Titmus Optical Vision Tester

Introducing the TITMUS Optical Vision Tester.

This machine is in great condition. The Item powers up. As you see in Pictures 1 and 2, the left and right eye vision testers are working in both far and rear position.

What is the Titmus vision test?

A comparison was made between results obtained through the Titmus Vision Tester and those obtained through more common open field optometric procedures. Specific tests performed with the Titmus Vision Tester included near and distance visual acuities, distance lateral and vertical phorias, color discrimination, and stereo acuity. Results were also obtained using Snellen near and distance charts for visual acuities, Maddox rod for vertical and lateral phorias at distance (neutralized with prism), Ishihara plates for color discrimination, and Stereofly Wirt Dot for stereo acuity. The purpose was to determine whether results obtained by the Titmus Vision Tester are significantly different from those obtained by performing the above specific tests on the patient population.

Physical Examination

Examine the eyes for:
• Pupillary equality.
• Reaction to light and accommodation.
• Ocular motility.
• Ocular muscle imbalance.
• Extraocular movements.
• Nystagmus.
• Exophthalmos.

Vision

“A person is physically qualified to drive a commercial motor vehicle if that person —
Has distant visual acuity of at least 20/40 (Snellen) in each eye without corrective lenses or visual acuity separately corrected to 20/40 (Snellen) or better with corrective lenses, distant binocular acuity of at least 20/40 (Snellen) in both eyes with or without corrective lenses, field of vision of at least 70º in the horizontal meridian in each eye, and the ability to recognize the colors of traffic signals and devices showing standard red, green, and amber.”
• The required tests measure visual acuity, peripheral horizontal visual fields, and color.
• Visual acuity is measured in each eye individually and both eyes together.
Distant visual acuity of at least 20/40 (Snellen) in each eye, with or without corrective
lenses.
Distant binocular visual acuity of at least 20/40 (Snellen) in both eyes, with or without
corrective lenses.
• Field of vision of at least 70° in the horizontal meridian in each eye.
• Color vision must be sufficient to recognize traffic signals and devices showing the standard red, amber, and green traffic signal colors.
• When corrective lenses are used to meet vision qualification requirements, the corrective lenses must be used while driving.
• A medical examiner, ophthalmologist, or optometrist may perform and certify vision test results. The medical examiner determines driver certification status.
• Monocular vision is disqualifying.
